Telenor promises that they would survive the slaughter in the Indian mobile market

India remains one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. But the lower tariffs have made it very hard for smaller players to stay profitable.

There is a growing concern that it would not be possible for all the players to stay operational for a long time and consolidation would occur in the coming years.

Bigger players are going to buy smaller companies. This would lessen the competition and well customers would lose out.

Telenor is one of the newer entrant in India with their joint venture with Unitech named Uninor.

The company promises that they have no plans to exit the Indian market. Telenor said that they aim to outlast the other newer players and would survive the ongoing price war.

The bigger problem for the company would be 3G. Most of the licenses have been acquired by older and bigger players in the market. And they would need to get into deals with them to launch their own 3G services in India.
