The Eggplant The eggplant was domesticated in Southeast Asia more than 4,000 years ago. It belongs to thesame family as the poisonous deadly nightshade (as do potatoes, tomatoes and petunias). In the Middle East and then in Europe, doctors blamed it for all sorts of things, from epilepsy to cancer. In the 5th century, Chinese women made a black dye from the eggplant skins to stain and polish their teeth.And some people in medieval Europe considered eggplant an aphrodisiac. 
Something I don't really follow The wreckage of a navy vessel found off the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific is probably John F. Kennedy's World War II patrol boat, PT-109, a panel of naval historians said July 10, 2002. The National Geographic Society commissioned an expedition in May to search for the wreck, led by Robert Ballard, best known for his discovery of the Titanic in 1985. At the time, Ballard said his findings were promising but inconclusive, pending review by naval experts. Ballard said the site, under 1,200 feet of water, is very difficult to maneuver with large, active sand waves and a very strong current.
